Sermorelin is a 29-amino-acid analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29) that binds the pituitary GHRH receptor to promote synthesis and release of growth hormone. GHRP-2 is a synthetic agonist of the GHS-R1a (ghrelin) receptor that triggers a distinct GH pulse and suppresses somatostatin tone. Because the two peptides act on different receptors, their co-administration produces a synergistic, greater-than-additive GH release while preserving the natural pulsatile pattern of secretion.
