Testosterone Cypionate vs Testosterone Enanthate
Last updated
The key difference
The same hormone with slightly different esters. Cypionate's ester is a little longer, but their release profiles are very similar and they are generally treated as interchangeable. Cypionate is the more common formulation in the US.

How Testosterone Cypionate works
Testosterone cypionate is an esterified form of the endogenous androgen testosterone. After intramuscular or subcutaneous injection it is slowly released and cleaved to free testosterone, which binds the androgen receptor to drive secondary sexual characteristics, muscle protein synthesis, bone density, erythropoiesis, libido, and mood. The cypionate ester extends the half-life so dosing every 3.5-7 days maintains stable serum levels.

An esterified testosterone that is slowly released after injection and cleaved to free testosterone, which activates the androgen receptor. Pharmacokinetics are very similar to cypionate; the enanthate ester gives a comparable multi-day half-life supporting weekly or twice-weekly dosing.
