Also known as: ACE-083
ACE-083 is a locally acting follistatin-based fusion protein designed to increase muscle size and strength in the specific muscle into which it is injected.

ACE-083 is a fusion of a modified follistatin domain with an IgG2 Fc region engineered for high local retention at the injection site. It sequesters myostatin (GDF-8), activin, and related TGF-beta ligands within the targeted muscle, blocking ActRIIB-mediated SMAD2/3 signaling. Because it is designed to stay localized rather than circulate systemically, it produces focal muscle hypertrophy in the injected muscle, which was studied for focal neuromuscular diseases.
