Pinealon is a tripeptide hypothesized to cross cell membranes and the blood-brain barrier and to interact with DNA regulatory regions, modulating tissue-specific gene expression in neurons. Preclinical work suggests it reduces oxidative stress, limits free-radical-induced apoptosis, and supports neuronal survival under hypoxic or excitotoxic conditions. It is reported to influence expression of genes tied to antioxidant defense and neuronal differentiation. Evidence comes mainly from cell culture and rodent models.
