Livagen is a tetrapeptide bioregulator believed to act as an epigenetic modulator that binds AT-rich regions of DNA and promotes chromatin decondensation, restoring transcriptional activity in aging or senescent cells. In lymphocyte studies it reactivated heterochromatinized genes such as those on the inactive X chromosome and ribosomal gene clusters, increasing protein synthesis capacity. It is proposed as an organ-targeted bioregulator that normalizes hepatocyte and immune cell function during aging.
