Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12 is a hexapeptide conjugated to palmitic acid, which improves lipophilicity and skin penetration through the stratum corneum. As a matrikine-mimetic signal peptide, it interacts with dermal fibroblasts to upregulate synthesis of extracellular matrix components including collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans. By signaling fibroblasts as though tissue repair is needed, it promotes matrix renewal that visibly firms and smooths skin.
