Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest active fragment of kisspeptin and binds the KISS1R (GPR54) receptor on hypothalamic neurons to stimulate gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion. This in turn drives LH and FSH release from the pituitary, regulating sex-steroid production and reproductive function. It acts as a master upstream regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and also influences sexual and emotional brain processing.
