Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 is a fragment that mimics the N-terminal end of SNAP-25, a component of the SNARE complex required for neurotransmitter vesicle docking and fusion. By competing with native SNAP-25 for assembly into the SNARE complex, it partially destabilizes the complex and reduces catecholamine and acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. This attenuates the muscle contractions that drive dynamic expression lines, producing a mild, reversible softening of fine wrinkles when applied topically.
